Working meeting of representatives of national mine action operators was held in Kyiv under the auspices of the UNHDA

Yesterday, November 5, 2025, a working meeting of representatives of national mine action operators was held in Kyiv under the auspices of the Ukrainian National Humanitarian Demining Association (UNHDA).

The overarching principle of the meeting was to assist the state in creating an effective, transparent and safe humanitarian demining system. Representatives of the operators confirmed their readiness to join forces to support state initiatives, restore territories and ensure the safety of Ukrainian citizens.

During the meeting, the participants discussed current issues in the development of the humanitarian demining sector in Ukraine. In particular, proposals were considered to improve the methodology for determining the cost of demining services, clarify the qualification criteria for procurement participants, as well as approaches to regulating subcontracting within state programs, etc.

An important part of the meeting was the discussion of the draft Code of Good Conduct for Market Participants, which should become the basis for the formation of uniform principles of professional ethics, transparency and mutual trust between all mine action subjects.

The issue of improving the standardization system (DSTU series 8820) was also considered – the participants analysed the existing discrepancies and agreed to prepare consolidated proposals to the technical standardization committee to eliminate them. Separately, the directions of strengthening the institutional capacity of UNHDA were discussed, in particular by expanding membership, strengthening coordination between operators and more effective use of the Association’s resources.

Particular attention was paid to the issue of openness in the field of humanitarian demining – the participants emphasized the importance of publicity of decisions made, transparency of procedures and accountability of performers, open interaction with state bodies, donors and the public. It was noted that the development of tools for informing the public about the progress of work and the results of demining is a necessary condition for increasing trust and efficiency of the entire industry.

Following the results of the meeting, it was decided to prepare coordinated proposals to state bodies on improving the regulatory framework and increasing the efficiency of humanitarian demining.

The Ukrainian National Humanitarian Demining Association continues to consolidate the professional community for the development of a transparent, open and effective humanitarian demining sector in Ukraine.
