On April 4, the Ukrainian Radio aired a special edition of the Knowledge Module program to mark the International Mine Action Awareness Day.
Oleksiy Botnarenko, First Deputy Head of the Ukrainian National Association for Humanitarian Demining, spoke in the studio. The conversation focused on
– the main types of demining carried out in Ukraine;
– mine safety rules and the importance of informing children;
– specific examples of war crimes related to mining of civilian areas;
– tips on how to behave in case of detection of suspicious objects;
– the need to create a culture of safe behavior among the population.
The program also featured a commentary by Mykola Didyk, representative of the Department of Mine Action.
